Niger
Tension and fear have gripped Nigeriens five days after Boko Haram insurgents launched attacks that left 26 people dead in the country’s southeastern region of Bosso.
Nigeriens are worried, considering Boko Haram’s activities and security situations in neighbouring countries.
Some Nigeriens are criticizing the government saying it is responsible as it has neglected some areas.
“Usually terror movements will target areas like Bosso, because they are marginalized. The state pays little attention to such areas, which is not a good thing,” says Mounkaila Biga, a concerned citizen.
Some 2,000 Chadian soldiers are on the verge of launching a counter-offensive against Boko Haram in coordination with Nigeria, Niger and Cameroon.
